About Mitch Trubisky

Mitch Trubisky was a quarterback for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels and had an impressive career in his last two seasons as the starting quarterback. In his junior year, Trubisky won the starting quarterback position after being the backup and quickly showcased his abilities as a talented quarterback.

Trubisky had a great 2016 with a completion percentage of 68% (5th best in the nation) and 30 touchdowns against 6 interceptions. These stats caught the eye of many NFL scouts, but many argue he did not get his deserved media attention as he was shadowed playing in the same conference as Louisville’s Lamar Jackson and Clemson’s Deshaun Watson.

Trubisky may be the most talented traditional quarterback in the draft. Reports all agree that he has excellent mobility but still uses his arm before resorting to his speed, and his mechanics and skill set all mirror what one would expect to see in an NFL quarterback. All of Trubisky’s dropbacks were in the shotgun formation, which will have to change at the NFL level, and there have been some concerns over his accuracy and inconsistency. He will likely need some time to adjust to the NFL level and the team he gets drafted by, but his talent is certainly promising.
