So, what is the Wonderlic anyway?

The Wonderlic is a measure of cognitive ability, very similar to an IQ test. The big difference is that the test is made up of only 50 questions that test takers have 12 minutes to complete. That may sound easy, but the average score on the test is designed to be 20 – very much how the IQ test is designed to have an average score of 100.

Questions from the Wonderlic are not necessarily difficult to answer correctly, but the time allotted makes it incredibly difficult to answer all 50 questions in time. Most low Wonderlic scores you see are not due to a person’s inability to get the answer right, but usually due to poor time management.

The short amount of time required to complete the test makes it ideal for many applications where test administrators need a reliable but fast method for evaluating individuals. This makes the Wonderlic ideal for human resources departments at companies looking to identify top level job candidates as well as colleges and universities looking to better assess their incoming students.
